One thing I'll never get used to no matter how much I try to fool myself, is jet-lag and post-adventure blues. It's 6am here in Ireland and as I lie awake I can't help but reminisce on some memorable moments from one of the best summers of my life. I'm sure you've noticed by now that I've been based in Los Angeles for the past three months, living it up in the sunshine in West Hollywood.
I've been a real busy bee this summer, networking and mingling with the creatives in California, and with so many highlights to cover, I have to admit that it took me some time to shortlist the best.
ROBERTO BOLLE BALLET NOW
Let's start way back at the beginning of my trip. One thing I look back on is the evening I attended 'Ballet Now' at the Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavillon. I was treated to two tickets for opening night and had the incredible pleasure of seeing Roberto Bolle on stage for the first time. I then had the chance to interview the international ballet star after the show, you can read that here.
Speaking of ballet, The Music Center have just announced their next show, which is one you will not want to miss. Russia's world-renowned Mariinsky Ballet (formerly the Kirov Ballet) opens the 12th season of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center on October 8-11th, with the Southern California premier of its celebrated work, Alexei Ratmansky's Cinderella.
Tickets are available at the Dorothy Chandler Pavillon Box Office, via telephone by calling (213) 972-0711, and online here.
WELLNESS WEDNESDAYS AT THE FOUR SEASONS BEVERLY HILLS
The closest I got to heaven was one afternoon at The Four Seasons Beverly Hills. Back on 5th August I spent the day at this world-renowned hotel to experience one day in paradise, a day they call Wellness Wednesdays.
I spent the morning by the pool then headed over to the luxurious treatment room for a 60 minute deep tissue massage. Pampering ended on a high at the Nail Salon where I had a top of the range pedicure. Also offered in the package is lunch, which I spent with lovely PR Director Kim, at Cabana Restaurant.
ERIC BUTERBAUGH FLORALS
There was of course that magical day that I paid a visit to Eric Buterbaugh Florals in West Hollywood. This breathtaking boutique is home to Eric Buterbaugh & Fabrice Croisé's delicate floral fragrance line, a stunning collection of seven beautifully crafted scents. Perfectly located along the buzzing Beverly Boulevard, EB Florals is a must see for anyone in the area. Want to know more about Eric? Check out my Q&A with him here.
DINING IN STYLE AT VIA VENETO
My friend Diego and I were treated to one night in Italy at Via Veneto. Well actually, it was on Main Street in Santa Monica, but it sure did feel like Italy! We started out with a selection of cheeses, freshly baked bread and truffle honey, accompanied by prosecco. Next up we were presented with a mouthwatering selection of ravioli, prosciutto, burrata, and...

BAKING UP A STORM AT CAKEMIX ON MELROSE
You know I love cake, right? I've been baking obsessed from a young age. My earliest memory of baking is with my dad, we used to make pain au chocolat together and my grandmother and I used to make rhubarb crumble too.. Yum!
While in Los Angeles, I had the opportunity to visit Duff's Cakemix on Melrose Avenue. Cakemix is a self-decorating cake store where I opted for a big yellow, vanilla and sprinkle filled, purple and white covered, candy topped cake. You can read all about my experience here.
A FEW DAYS IN HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA
The trip finished up on a high in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I flew up north to Canada for a few days to surprise one of my best friends. The trip couldn't have been more perfect! We spent time down at the harbour, indulged in fresh lobster, enjoyed walks in the forest, and so much more. Check out my Halifax diaries here.
There you have it, some of the top highlights from my summer abroad. It seems like no time until my next adventure begins, crazy to think in just over one week I'll be checking in on a one-way ticket to Toronto!
