This week I'm focusing on some of the most innovative up and coming designers around the world. These brands are my latest obsession and I have luckily had the pleasure of crossing paths with every designer mentioned in this piece. It has been a great joy to watch their careers grow through their original and cutting edge designs.
These young designers are the future of the fashion industry. Five to ten years from now I hope to see each brand showing on major catwalks around the world. I thought this post necessary as fashion week is fast approaching and would like invite you to come on an inspirational voyage with me to Canada, Spain, Northern Ireland and the United States...
First up is Canadian brand Three Eighths which is the brainchild of Daniel Finlan & Warren Scott. I first met Daniel on a summer trip to New York four years ago and we clicked instantly. He was modeling at the time but it was clear he had a passion for art, creativity and design. He introduced me to some of the coolest brands and inspired me with his quirky fashion sense.
Shortly after departing New York, Daniel founded Around The Collar, an innovative accessories brand. He then met design partner Warren Scott while studying fashion design at Ryerson University and the pair joined forces to bring Three Eighths to life. Simple, chic and beautifully constructed essentials form the collections. All products are made in Canada on special request.
Alicante born designer Victor Nouman has always been driven by design. I met him in Belfast while he was studying for his degree in architecture. He fell into the world of fashion and clothing in 2014 and has since released two collections. Through these collections Victor seeks to redefine masculinity.
Architecture is still very much a part of Victor's life and remains his main inspiration in his designs. Structured coats and flared pants are the basis of his latest collection.
Design Duo John Gerard O'Neill & Neil Coogan joined forces earlier this year to create their debut collection for the Spring Summer catwalk show at Belfast FASHIONWEEK.
Meeting John Gerard was the highlight of my time in high school. Our evenings were spent on the phone with each other discussing the latest copy of Vogue and I have him to thank for introducing me to the world of fashion and for teaching me so much of what I know today. At the young age of eleven, his passion for design was obvious and seeing him flourish today is so inspirational. A few years ago, he formed a strong friendship and partnership with Neil Coogan while studying for a fashion management degree and this year they founded Deux Cara together.
Catch their stunning ball gowns and evening wear on the catwalk at Belfast FASHIONWEEK in October, see here for more information and tickets.
Blake Morris is an up and coming womenswear designer based in Los Angeles. He grew up in Ohio and after finishing high school he took a risk and followed his heart to LA where he graduated from the Advanced Fashion Design Program at FIDM. I had the pleasure of meeting Blake Morris by chance in West Hollywood. His friendly and outgoing attitude makes him approachable and he is great to be around.
Through his collections, he aims to make women feel feminine, sophisticated and empowered. Blake showcased his debut collection for Spring 2015 at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica. The collection was inspired by the graceful movements of jellyfish. He has since worked on special commissioned projects with Cadillac and Cotton Incorporated. Blake is now appearing in the 14th Season of Project Runway.
