It's often referred to as the most wonderful time of the year, a statement I'm extremely grateful to agree with. The temperatures are dropping, the excitement is rising, and if we’re lucky, the snow will soon begin to fall. I’m sure you’ve already noticed the sight of those familiar green trees popping up around you, the sound of those nostalgic festive songs, and the scent of cinnamon in the air.
I start to think about wrapping up in my favourite blanket in front of an open-fire, sipping on a spicy chai tea, while watching It’s A Wonderful Life. It’s only 52 days until the most magical day of the year, and with that in mind, it’s time to start shopping.
I spent this past weekend wandering the streets of Toronto, in search of the Ultimate Christmas Wish List. I start out at Canadian department store, Holt Renfrew. The familiar scent of Pomegranate Noir draws me over to my favourite cologne counter, Jo Malone. The British beauty brand are well-known for their exquisite Christmas gift boxes, each containing an array of luxurious surprises.
I set my eyes on the House of Jo Malone London, an elegant and understated Christmas gift box filled with Lime Basil & Mandarin cologne, Peony & Blush Suede Body Crème, Pomegranate Noir Travel Candles, English Pear & Freesia Body & Hand Lotion, and Red Roses Bath Oil. The temptation is overwhelming and I later leave with a bag full of goodies.
Once I finish at Jo Malone, I make my way out onto Bloor Street and enter through the luxurious doors of French fashion house, Hermès. I spot the burgundy Avalon Throw out of the corner of my eye. Flash back to that well known scene in Sex and the City when Carrie Bradshaw wraps up in her H-monogramed blanket post-wedding disaster. This luxurious 85% wool-15% cashmere blanket is the perfect fashion accessory for the home.
The Hermès blanket reminds me of the Burberry monogramed scarf and blanket. Again, it’s a wool and cashmere blend, inspired by traditional equestrian blankets, the design is jacquard-woven with a check pattern. The personalized Burberry poncho is the ultimate gift for that special someone.
I navigate my way to Teavana in Toronto’s bustling Eaton Centre. A good brew is one of the many pleasures that I enjoy in life. I blame my Northern Irish blood for my tea addiction. Those who know me well know that a strong cuppa is the way to my heart. I’m lucky enough to sample some of the Oprah spiced chai at Teavana, it transports me back to India. This celebrated chai is about as authentic as it gets in the Western world.
I walk away with 2 ounces of Oprah and a few ounces of Jade Citrus Mint Green Tea. I also leave with a Christmas list the length of my arm, which includes this great Japanese-inspired Modern Matcha Gift Set.
Next up is menswear store, Harry Rosen, where I find the Canada Goose concession buzzing with people. Hands are grabbing at the racks where the latest Berwick Bomber is hanging. I've had my eye on this stylish duck down filled coat for years and now that I'm living in Canada, which is apparently as cold as the North Pole in winter, it seems appropriate to treat myself. This bomber provides the durability, warmth, and style that we all need to survive the winter season.
Canada Goose products are made with the highest quality materials and craftsmanship. Each product purchased from a certified retailer comes with a lifetime guarantee. Although pricier than other winter jackets on the market, think of the Chilliwack Bomber as an investment, it’s a winter essential that will last for years to come.
