If there's one brand that deserves to be celebrated, it's Crème de la Mer. La Mer is a globally recognized high end skincare brand, headquartered in New York City, that has grown to be a favourite among beauty editors and consumers around the world. Founded by Dr. Max Huber, a scientist with the goal of creating a miracle in a jar. All it took was 12 years and more than 6000 experiments to formulate what is now known as the best moisturizing cream on the market.
I fell in love with the Classic Moisturizing cream and Oil Absorbing Lotion a few years ago, and these products are now part of my everyday skincare regime. The Lip Balm is my favourite travel companion, and the Hydrating Facial is my 'day at the spa' savior. I would bath myself in the Body Crème if I could, but that's a little too Marie Antoinette...
On another note, let's talk about what happened last week on the West Coast, shall we?
La Crème de la crop of Los Angeles were out in full force on Tuesday 13th October to celebrate 50 year's of global heritage and healing in La Mer's birthplace of California. It was night to be remembered, an event co-hosted by Estée Lauder Companies Inc. President, John Demsey, Crytal Lourd, Jamie Tisch, and Quinn Ezralow. La Mer transformed the 26,000 sq. ft. studio space into a highly immersive special event at Siren Studios on Sunset Boulevard. Inspired by the miraculous and magnificent Pacific Ocean, guests descended under the sea for an enchanting night of spectacular experiences.
Attended by only the best, guests included Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Nicole Richie, and famed florist and perfumer, Eric Buterbaugh. Eric described the event as "Magical, gorgeous, and fun", and when I asked him what La Mer means to him, he responded with "It's the most luxurious brand of them all, and I love it."
Performances were given by The Atomics, including model Lucky Blue Smith, Pyper America, Daisy Clementine, and Queen Starlie, who brought their California surf rock sound to guests with their new single, Too Late, as well as their special rendition of the Safari's classic song, Wipe Out. On the decks was celebrity DJ, Zen Freeman, who played his favourite mix of ocean-inspired tracks.
All this talk of La Mer has me thinking about a trip to the brand's beauty counter at Holt Renfrew. I think I deserve a little pre-Christmas gift, to myself of course. I just had a peak on Crème de la Mer's website and I'm now dreaming of The Ultimate Collection, a collaboration between world renowned brand Asprey, and La Mer.
